FEI Degree of Difficulty Ratings

FEI Degree of Difficulty ratings are based on FEI ratings, but instead of measuring efficiency against schedule, degree of difficulty measures record against schedule, a distinction closely aligned with the priorities of the College Football Playoff selection committee. Teams are ranked according to the percent likelihood (EDD) that an elite team (two standard deviations better than average) would achieve that team's record. The percent likelihood (VDD) that a very good team (1.5 standard deviations better than average) and the percent likelihood (GDD) that a good team (one standard deviation better than average) would achieve the given team's record are also provided.

The table also includes each team's current FEI rating (FEI) and its schedule strength to date (SOS), defined here as the likelihood that an elite team would go undefeated against the given team's schedule to date. The number of 90th percentile performances (90P) according to opponent-adjusted single game GFEI ratings, as well as each team's record to date against FEI top 15 (v15), FEI top 30 (v30) , and FEI top 50 (v50) opponents is also provided.
